Poor physical health can lead to an increase risk to developing mental health problems.

Participating in regular moderate physical activity can bring numerous health and social benefits.

Regular physically active habits may:

  • reduce your risk of a heart disease and stroke,
  • improve muscle flexibility, strength and endurance,
  • improve emotional wellbeing,
  • improve health and mental wellbeing,
  • improve quality of sleep.
  • enhance social skills,
  • increase capacity for learning and being productive,
  • manage your weight better,
  • have a lower blood cholesterol level,
  • lower the risk of type 2 diabetes and some cancers,
  • have lower blood pressure,
  • have stronger bones, muscles and joints and lower risk of developing osteoporosis, and,
  • reduce risks of falling and improve mobility and strength for older adults.

QPS has partnered with PCYC Queensland to offer all employees (sworn and unsworn) membership to PCYC gyms and fitness clubs state-wide.


  • Deliver any messages in person.
  • Take the stairs.
  • Take your lunch for a walk.
  • Encourage ‘walk and talk’ meetings.
  • Use public transport and get off one stop earlier or later and walk.
  • Move your bin away from your desk.

PCYC Gym Membership

As part of the Our People Matter strategy, the QPS has partnered with PCYC Queensland to offer all employees (sworn and unsworn) membership to PCYC gyms and fitness clubs state-wide.

An annual $30 membership fee provides you with PCYC Queensland Membership plus unlimited access to all PCYC gyms and fitness clubs in Queensland.

Please note, this offer does not include group fitness or personal training classes.
